River in Grampian region, Scotland; length
139 km/87 mi. From its source in the
Cairngorms, it flows E into the North Sea at
Aberdeen (by an artificial channel). It is
noted for salmon fishing. Also a river in
Wales and England; length 112 km/70 mi.
Rising in Lake Bala, Gwynnedd, it flows into
the Irish Sea W of Chester. There is another
Scottish river Dee (61 km/38 mi) in
Kirkcudbright.
